From the 14th-16th September, Dr Patricia Saintey attended the Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Symposium in Chicago.
The conference, aiming to advance the sphere of healthcare, involved in-depth analyses, explanations, and applications of Bio-Identical hormone replacement therapies over the three days.
The aim of the course was to do the following:
* Review Hormone replacement for women * Identify the clinical signs and symptoms of Hypothyroidism * Select which laboratory tests to use in BHRT: Blood, Saliva, and Urine * Discuss the cortisol levels effect on balanced hormones * Evaluate cortisol levels and circadian rhythm * Describe Andropause-Testosterone treatment and monitoring
Following this, Dr Saintey is looking to expand her work as a Functional Medical Doctor.
There were several applications where the use of HRV was demonstrated in the conference:
Firstly, a Cardiovascular assessment was demonstrated by The Cardio Group which included measuring HRV to assess Microvascular Dysfunction which is thought to be a precursor to an ischemic event.
The second example was the ONDAMED Biofeedback system, which is based on the principle of Electro-Magnetic induction. The system uses focused pulsed Electro-Magnetic fields which penetrate deep into a targeted region of the body in most need of stimulation, with HRV changes measured to demonstrate relaxational benefits.
